I don't have a cell phone and don't know how to "inbed", so I didn't add a sound track. But my favorite engine sound is almost any OHC in-line 6 with headers and full dual exhaust! And that engine runs as smooth as it sounds!

Another vote for the 917.

And more in general, I've never found an Italian car that I thought sounded bad.
Seems like sex with angels would sound like, "Oh God, oh God."
Oh, 917 is my fave, AC 911 or something V-12 for the street.
Some good ones so far! The LFA gives me shivers, and I always love the highly-tuned V-12s like the Zonda, that Ferrari 312P, and others like an F50, FXX, etc.
Here's an oldie but a goodie, straight-six Honda with a 6-1 exhaust that gives you a 70's F1 V-12 soundtrack for way less $$.

As for V-8's, I still think that highly-tuned, high-winding SBF with an X-pipe or crossover headers is tough to beat for sound:
NO Jag V12 !!! Weeeeeeeeeee
This Brock and Tullius guy might have done something, maybe

Gotta love the sound of large KKK turbos going into compressor surge. I think the 962 used a pair of K29s. Porsche 930s and Audi Sport Quattros used K27s. (I think, but am unsure, that the S1 E2 used K29 compressors with K27 turbines. For sure the Pikes Peak car did)
It took me a bit to realize, it wasn't that he was shifting slowly, it's that it took that long for that little (!) engine to spool up those big turbos after a shift. That thing must have been ridiculous to drive.
Obligatory awesome-sounding engine video. The video that made me want ITBs.

I shoulda been looking for a wrecked CBX years ago... It would have been worth owning just for the sound.
