Further, I'm having a hard time scrolling through the "latest topics" screen. The way the threads are laid out with post count, thread author, forum location, latest comment time and author all the same size font and color makes it difficult for me to scan through and grab an idea of what's going on in a topic.
Just highlighting this as a good suggestion. Changing the hyperlink to the forum name in bold or red like the last revision would break up the line of text and give some context.
I'm still having trouble with spellcheck. When I right click I only have the option to paste rather than the normal context menu with choices. I suppose it isn't a huge deal as it's only an issue when I choose to use a less commonly used word from my lexicon in some half-ass attempt to look smart.
It takes a big man to admit that they just flat screwed up. So, put it back, and we'll call it good, okay?
Sorry guys, I am old but my eyes aren't bad enough to need huge text or all the non-essentials on the right.
BTW it's easier to scroll your old eyes down the page with the old format, however; much like a voter telling a politician what to do .......
Just FYI. When I try to use Reply or quote the comment box becomes unusable as in I am unable to type in it. My only option is to back out and just enter a comment.
Android on Motorola Droid turbo 2 using chrome. I have yet to find the use desktop site option.
I'm going to have to get used to not double spacing everything.

I'm sure someone has made this comment, but it would be nice in the list of topics if it was indicated (either by weight or color) visited threads.
Maybe this is the 2017 way of doing things, but I hate how nothing is broken up. The posts all blend in together, and the stuff on the right blends in with the posts.

Same phone here and having no issues.
It's looking better now. Left Justified is good. A bit of white on the right edge, but scrolling up shows some images.

Agreed, that change was a big improvement.
My laptop if hooked to my TV at home with an HDMI. I have the scaling cranked up to 150% and previously GRM had to be magnified in to 125% to be readable from my couch.
I'll have to wait until this evening to see what the update looks like on it.

Really now. After playing with the reply function for a while it seems to work now. Not sure why it wasn't working earlier today. Thanks Nick
Web forums have been around for a couple decades now and all of them I visit (except my for my favorite) have a consistent look and feel.
Please don't trade aesthetics for functionality. Good looks are subjective.
Not a big fan of the new look, the junk on the right is distracting (if anything should be on hte left) and the lack of definition between topics and replies are a bit disconcerting. I'm sure I'll adjust.
I'll jump on the HUGE text and lots of whitespace bandwagon, very hard to read because you have to scroll so much. Hard to read moving text, gives me a headache.
I still can't see a way to upload a photo, I thought that was part of the upgrade?
In reply to pinchvalve :
Uploading photos will be in phase two, coming soon.
Is there a way to change from pure white to ....say......a soft gray background?
I won't comment too much on the mechanics of the change (that's Ed's baby and he seems to be squishing bugs and getting the new forum whipped into shape quickly), but I will break the fourth wall here a little bit and answer a portion of the "why change?" question that a few have posted.
In short, it's to facilitate movement around the website. We've focused a lot of time and energy into making it easy and natural for you to see the other great stuff we have online, and for people who find that other great stuff to see the forum. This new skin, along with a bunch of substantial under-the-hood improvements, is one of the final steps on that mission. This should help the new forum look a little bit less like a different, separate space, and a little more another awesome part of our website.
Hmm. The upvote-downvote buttons are completely invisible on computer. They are visible on iPhone however.

Yes, that does help. There is still a ton of white space, though.
Easier to type things and add pictures, I like it so far. Is there a way to upload pictures? Although I would like to change the theme colors to make it more readable. White on white, with small black lettering is tough to read. Overall I like it.

This should be fixed now.
In reply to Tom Suddard :
it will be interesting to see what the site statistics say in a few months.
I can't argue with the motives, but it is a bit more, well, it's just more. Too much white and too big of a font. The items on the right side of the page used to be on the left, so not sure how that is better for the stated change reason. But then again I'm old and don't like people on my lawn! HA
