I wonder why they didn't call it the Seoul.
If I was choosing between the two, I'd spend the extra 2k for the new XB (13+ vs 15+ for basic 5mt versions), but the Soul was pretty nice. I think you'd make that difference back up on resale, no matter how nice the Kia is.
For what it's worth, Jalopnik HATED the Cube, whereas they were only mildly bored by the Soul.
A lot of interest here about the Soul, Sadly, it's the vehicle that GM or Chrysler should be making. We do have the Tahoe and the Commander though.
My big concern with the Soul is the rear door. The opening looks smaller than it should be for the size of box - like the bottom edge is really high. Maybe a side-effect of a trunk-floor mounted spare?
Since the primary reason for wanting a new box is for hauling mountain bikes and gear, I've been looking at used Elements (mostly 06 and 07s). A fully assembled bike fits in the back with seating for three. The smaller cubes will probably be more limited, but the slightly better mpg and being new are pluses.
