Seeking knowledge for upcoming trans rebuild on the road race car in my "garage" photo.  Recently changed rear gears from 3.55 to 3.08 to avoid running out of RPM's on certain tracks, after having lower RPM hydraulic lifter race motor built.  Now I need to shorten 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gears (accepting wider spreads for each shift, "torque I have to spare") to return to needed corner exit and "esses" RPMs for my home track.  The websites, Richmond Gear and other sources, seem to only show fixed ratio combinations with associated torque capacities.  My preferred ratio set doesn't match any of the fixed combinations, but does use their ratios, just in a different combination.  I assume the torque limit applies mainly to 1st gear, and I would have to be careful about hard launches since my desired 1st for safely negotiating the paddock at low speeds, 2.64:1, has a 325 ft-lb limit for the ratio set where it is found, and that is close to my current torque peak.  1.91, 1.46 and 1.00 are the 2-3-4 ratios I need for best performance at my usual track.  Can a rebuilder install such a combination, that uses standard ratios, just not in one of the standard combinations of ratios offered in the various packages (like Richmond's S, W, X, CC, and Z ratio set options)?

Also, finding a reliable race transmission rebuilder near me (Portland, Oregon area) is desired.  I've paid for these trannies from Tex Racing, now G-Force South, on the East Coast in the past; would like to know a good source closer to me if someone has experience and can recommend one.

Being that it's a 1 piece countershaft, that would mean having one custom made if you want to switch outside the offered gear packages. Does anybody custom cut gears?
