Looks like Ford is entering the electric drag racing arena with an all electric Cobrajet Mustang. Exciting times ahead, and with electric global rallycross taking hold this should be the dawn of real electric motorsports proliferation (other than Formula E of course).
This comes a bit after GM unveiled the electric COPO concept.
Both projects look to be outsourced to independent racing shops and suppliers.

Woops! Typo. I was trying to include both and got confused.
Ford released this CobraJet Electric Concept Mustang and GM released a COPO Electric Concept Camaro.
Looks like the electric COPO struggles to break into the 9s, will be interesting to see if Ford can back up the low 8 second claim.

If anything they should be better at them, max torque right off zero rpm. In RC cars you have to tune the slipper clutches on brushless cars to keep from the power wheeleying and blowing the tires off, and thats with moderate voltage 2 cell lipos.
