Agreed with BoOfTheFuture.
I can see why this looks like a good idea. A LOT more ads, less in-house administration, easier billing. Seems like a win-win, right?
I have to say though, it's a lot less fun to peruse now. Some of it may be my soft-core racing demographic. There's just quite a bit of circle and dirt track stuff to sort through now, and it seems like less stuff to tack onto my 80's Japanese crapboxes.
Then there's the aforementioned GRM "certification". Whether it's imagined or not, at least I could say the vast majority were GRM people. Now it's the opposite. I think Bob said it best.
Oh well, time marches on and doesn't always cater to my personal tastes

You would be shocked at the ratio. I'd like to think the freeloaders are lurking, inactive users. I suspect that's not always the case.
As posted in the other thread- can't see the classifieds as all here at work, since the website does not support IE6 at all. And I can't update, since it's not up to me.
Major bummer.
In reply to zomby woof:
Well, they can't really be freeloaders; the whole internet is free. I'm probably just being a curmudgeon.
OTOH, it bothers me that there are loyal site users that have never picked up a copy of Grassroots Motorsports magazine.
I'm a subscriber, but haven't read the magazine in at least 3 years.
How does that make you feel?

Like you're my favorite kind of site user...
I gave the scrip. to my son. It's working. He ran his first autocross this year.
This sucks.
2 free ads at a time? How many GRMers have ONLY two parts for sale at once?
You want to charge me to not see your annoying banners? And to make using it easier? I can do that for free by not going to your stupid site.
Screw it. I didn't even finish signing up.
Boo GRM for farming it out.
I am going to have to vote epic fail as well. i cant even get it to let me sign up. It would be better to just go back to how it was before and only have the for sale forum and thats it.

Sorry, no thanks. Really dislike the format.

I have tried using RacingJunk in the past. The audience there before the merge just didn't seem very interested in our market. I've had cars or parts here that went hella fast that didn't get hits into double digits on RJ.
The items up there are, for the most part, way too expensive or not targeted toward my interests. That was obvious even from the print ad they put in the mag. A $2k rusty Beetle with "$2011 Challenge" tagged on it? Same with the $1800 Camaro. Plus, I don't like the format and I feel the sense of community is missing.
Had there not been a thread for the airing of grievances I wouldn't have said anything. It doesn't bother me a whole lot, I just won't be using those classifieds.

Your comment finally pushed me into doing what I have been meaning to do for some time (like a year).
81gtv6 - no longer a freeloader.
I'll stick to using the Challenge classifieds here. I don't sell anything worth more than about $1000 anyway.
As a test, I just listed my big fat Benz for sale on RacingJunk.com. I really don't understand the hate, but please believe that we're paying attention to your concerns.
And in case you want to buy a nice Merceds-Benz wagon, here you go.
81gtv6- You just made my day. Thanks for being a reader!

Are you a freeloader if you got the 10 years-$100 package?
I think that is close to freeloading.
Keep up the great work guys, you are the only non-work related magazine I read.
The only one cover to cover every issue.
I don't like only being able to only post one picture esp when I have two cars trying to sell in one ad. I don't really like the format. I posted my MGs there anyway.
I know its not the same. But there are some pretty good deals on V8 stuff
Arg. Hate to beat a dead horse, but....
The search on that site SUCKS.
I typed in "impreza" all other fields empty and got no returns.
It says "you may want to generalize you're search more"
I guess I ought to search "impreza" on google next?
trying ad for 3 wheeler 3 wheel honda
We met with John Gamble, from RacingJunk, at length this weekend and are working on improvements.

I loved the old ads, don't have an issue with RJ but liked having both sets of classifieds as they had different flavors.
As for freeloader... I signed up a short time ago and ain't seen squat yet. Gimme my magazine!
PS- Can I has hat and not t-shirt?
Gotta cast my vote for the "not a fan" camp. I actually saw these sometime back, and gave up after looking for 10 minutes for the "GRM adds". Went back today, only to find there was still no special category. Now I understand that there never was meant to be one. I definitely preferred being able to browse adds here from "our own" and know that I could still go to racing junk anytime I wanted to in search of other things.

Not trying to be a tool but I thought I would voice one thing I liked a great deal about GRMs ad's.
Many of us here have a similar bend. Guys who are maybe a half bubble off the norm and like to find ways to do things with cunning and skill before just throwing money at issues.
What made GRMs ad's special to me was that I would browse those ad's with more open eyes as I felt like the things offered had more value as they were obviously cherished by someone who had a mindset similar to my own.
