Unsolicited o[inion: Walk away and see if your enthusiasm returns. When you are motivated, you bang out projects harder than this at an amazing clip. Don't let a E36 M3ty dash kill the whole project. Sell it and try another one, or some other ingenious solution.

Bonus, Tri fives are not going to quit appreciating.

I appreciate the counter, but I think the 57 plus 20 grand wouldn't be fair to you.

I think I'm gonna list it for 30 obo. It's a running driving car with a lot of power and a lot of potential. Maybe that's a high number but I would listen to offers. Not sure what anything is worth till someone pays you for it.

I didn't fall for it, it's ok to move on, and I put a lot of sweat equity (and a solid amount of money) into it. If I move it on and it gets me the cash to get something else and make half a dozen house payments it would have served me well. I'm so drawn to the Wartburg and absolutely love driving it. Someone will fall in love with it though. With a little putzing and shakedowns it will be a great driver for someone else who maybe can't do all the fab work but can do body and tinkery stuff

I think it's time for an update.  My buddy Marsden and I road tripped to Ohio in May and picked the 57 up from Patrick.

Arriving home I had a punchlist of things to start in on including rear tires, a couple of leaks Patrick mentioned, exterior work,  interior work,  tune, alignment, etc.  I got it on the lift and started tweaking things and ran out of adjustment on the front coilovers,  so one thing leads to another and I have a set of Viking coilovers installed for the front and the rear.

I'm also a sucker for poverty caps on a car like this,  so while getting new rear tires I decided to change up the wheels a little.  This is the stance after the new coilovers,  wheels, and rear tires.  I plan to either lower the rear or raise the front or a little of both.  I do like a slight rake,  but maybe not this much.

I really like the front bumper and grill setup on a 57,  so wanted to get back to that,  but new parts are crazy expensive and I also think they would look out of place on this car.  Two trips to GA later and I have two sets of front and rear bumpers,  a grill, grill bar, fender extensions, and some other parts.  I took the best parts from each used set and now we have a complete frontend.

Next up was a good set of used kick panels and a new carpet set along with sound deadening.

That's where I am as of last night.  Next is finishing the rear used bumper,  installing Dakota Digital RTX gauges, a dyno tune next week,  then an alignment sometime in July.  I did fix the trans leak with some new orings for the dipstick tube,  but still need to fix the pinion leak.  I'm really enjoying this car and hope to have it mostly sorted by spring for some cruising in the cooler weather.
