I need to evacuate my ac system in my 05 vue to replace the compressors scroll control valve. Are there any fellow members in the Cleveland Ohio area who have the equipment and would be willing to help. I can flip you some cash, or beer, or ?

I don't, but it's nice to see another local.

The auto parts stores rent the machines for a bunch of nothing. Basically, buy the pump and manifold and when you bring it back they refund your money.

They rent the vacuum pump, but not the system to capture the refrigerant.

Is the only thing needed besides the pump the recovery tank? I've seen the tanks for about $60 and would buy one if that's all I need besides a rental pump.

I was surprised by the number of members who are somewhat local to Cleveland. It's nice to know there are others close by.

Take it to a shop and have it evacuated if it's not already empty. 95% of the time if the system has failed, it's already dumped the refrigerant.

This. I've needed r134a recovered a couple times and paid anywhere from nothing to $50 for a shop to take care of it.

I have the pump and manifolds, but I'm in central PA.

The system actually is full and has no leaks. The ac is sort of cool at idle and gets colder as the rpms increase. All my research is pointing me to a clogged scroll control valve. I need to empty the system though to change it.

I topped of with just a tad more refrigerant and its freezing cold again. It drops to just regular cold if I sit and idle too long but it has been plenty cool for 80 plus degree days.
