I came across a GTI-r parked on the side of the road in Canada a few years back.
FYI, a friend of mine living in Canada claims that insurance companies are cracking down on RHD cars because of the number of high-performance JDM whacko cars coming in and crashing. I have not confirmed this, but I sure hope it's not true and that we won't see the same thing here as the Playstation generation gets their hands on all those cars from the original Gran Turismo. Although they will be 10 years older and hopefully more mature by that time...

Keith, I think we might have seen the same car. I'll try to find my pics to see if I accidentally got one of the license plate.
The one I saw was caged with a rally computer in front of the navigator's seat.
It's black and red now IIRC. Here it is later that same day. It had a "For sale - light body damage" sign on it He was doing pretty well until he wasn't.
See the 911 in the ditch? That was a decreasing radius corner over a crest, no points for guessing how it got there...

They were reputed to have weak transfer cases in Oz. Not personal experience just a reputation FWIW
The have the same reputation in the UK, to a certain extent because people think "oh, it's got an SR20DET so I'll crank up the boost to something daft" and then the transfer case makes a bid for freedom.
