i have a motive pressure bleeder with every attachment, i bought the big kit about 4 years ago. last used at beginning of summer.

just got it out and the hose is trash, it's falling apart. also, every time i put it away with fluid in it, it's empty when i get it out of the box and the box is more saturated. is this normal? i'm slightly disappointed as it works well when nothing is messed up, but i've lost cubic dollars in leaked out fluid and now it needs new plumbing.

I don't put fluid in mine, just air and release the pressure and top up the reservoir before I blow air into the system. I've had very bad luck with brake fluid coming into contact with pretty much anything that isn't part of a brake system. The tubing I use on the bleed end gets relaced regularly because it turns opaque and loses flexibility.

Mine has held up for 4-5 years without deterioration from brake fluid. I've also cleaned it and used it to top off an bleed my cooling system in our Lemons Civic with a blown HG. I've been really happy with it.

I don't store it full of brake fluid, but I don't go to great lengths to clean it up after I use it, either.

What kind of brake fluid? I use Motul RBF and ATE super blue...which permanently stains any hose it comes in contact with.

It says to specifically clean it out when done. I think that is where you went wrong.

I use mine like mazdeuce.

I've had mine for years and its been fine. I just bought the Motive Power Fill and had a Keystone Kops type of experience with it yesterday tho that I'm not happy about.

See my post on the board about it...

+1 for just using it to pressurize the system with air on top.

That's the clean way, but that sickening feeling when you hear "slluuuurrrpppp" because the MC ran dry, though...

I've always filled mine. Just makes the process so much easier. Yeah, I have to clean out the Motive when I'm done but I'm ok with that...

+2 for just using the pressure, and keeping the fluid in the systom,

Use a catch container about 1/2 to 3/4 volume of the brake master reservoir... fill it up and you know to check and top off

*If bleeding an empty system, air obviously won't fill your container so the reservoir CAN empty before the container... Just be mindful of this.
