I'm not sure if I should be happy or unhappy that this is on the other side of the country.

Spoke to this guy last week.

Title is not in his name. He never signed it/registered it. This is sketchy to me. Car was also stolen/recovered earlier this year.

So basically, all it's good for now is to be molested into a trailered track-only car...

Buy with a police officer present to document. Tell the seller that. If he walks, you know he was lying. If he stays he's either stupid, or honest. And you'll have it documented by the police.

Could be curb-stoning it. Bought it for cheap, then decided to flip it instead of register and drive it. While illegal in most places, I really don't have a personal issue with the practice. Why are cars and houses the only used items you have to pay taxes on? Never made sense to me.

As long as the title is signed by the person who's name is on the title I wouldn't worry about it.

Sorry if I was unclear earlier... that is exactly what is happening. He purchased it from the OP in Washington and brought it to the southeast.

I am not a fan of this practice and it opens the buyer up to a lot more risk.

The ad says Spartanburg. He probably found out he can't register it here.

The phone number according to google is for an ITRANSPORT LLC based out of Inman, SC. From the pics i can find of the dude he looks super bro.

And it seems he seems to be a trucker and has 4 good reviews on uship plus he seems to be DOT registered so he should know better about the non title issues.

And that might just get you screwed...I was looking at a truck where the seller had purchased it from a local shop/dealer he knew. He drove it on the dealer tags for a year and never took care of the title. I was nervous and told him I'd meet him at DMV and split the cost of him getting the title in his name. He went to DMV while I was driving the 150 miles to meet him and found out the original owner (that sold it to his high school buddy the dealer) obtained a duplicate title after selling it to the dealer and he could not transfer the original title he had. I now own a Tahoe instead of the extended cab GMC K2500 I really wanted...

No. NC titles need to be signed and notarized. NC does not require a title to be notarized if the state that issued the title does not. The requirements apply to the title, not to the state where you register/re-title.

Doesn't need to be notarized for WA.

You register them where you live normally. I don't know what NC requires, but SC does not require a notary. It must be signed. Most people get the seller to sign and leave it blank in case they want to flip it without paying taxes, title etc. Not exactly legal.

I notice the cars is parked behind the house like its being hidden. Could just be a HOA thing. I'm wondering if the guy transported it to someone who could not pay the shipping cost.
