This is a little off topic, but you folks have a ton of knowledge about mechanical stuff.
Problem is poor drive on a self-propelled mower. Problem appears to be belt slippage. I have ordered a new belt, but it won't be here for about a week.
Does anyone know of a belt dressing product that will improve belt grip?

CRC makes one, but it didn't work for me on a car.
Belt dressings don't improve grip, they make the belt slippery so it doesn't squeak.
Belt dressing is one of those "Do not use" products like head gasket in a bottle or motor honey.
Sure it works for a minute...maybe...if you just need the car sold...
I've had limited success in making an old belt more grippy by lightly running coarse sandpaper along the sides to cut off the old hardened rubber. Some degree of care is obviously required unless you want to be known thereafter as Lefty.
I had a coworker that used a ton of it in an old combine we used to harvest test plots. It made things worse.
the CRC stuff does work and its not a lube it actually softens the rubber, it kills the belt A LOT faster though.
I even use it on old HARD hoosiers and get 1 or 2 more autocrosses out of them, come to think of it I got 3rd place at the challenge using crc belt dressing on my old tires. LOL

CRC belt dressing has made several Challenge appearances on my cars since you told me that. Remember it's a fluid so budget exempt.
In my experience the belt spray to make it grip better works for at least a while. I have an electric driveway gate that has belts and they can occasionally slip when it's very cold or excessively damp and the spray is a quicker fix when I'm trapped inside my property and need to get to work. Some shots of that spray and suddenly the belts are grippy again.
