Went to lunch with coworkers, went to an area we never travel. On the way back the driver saw some furniture by the road, nice adorandak (sp?) set for free. So we whip in and see that she and another want it all....but it aint gonna fit in her wrangler. So we call another coworker to come help. While waiting I ask the home owners if I can look at an old MB they have.
So I know it's a 240D per the rear emblem - but what year? Worth anything? It's a 4 speed and the sunroof leaks some (at least lol) as the passenger seat was damp.
Next, also on property, was this Mercury of some sort. LOTS OF RUST, said this wont be for sale
Next are some hubcaps I got out of a barn there - any ID on them or just generics?
LASTLY, saw this old cargo van a mile up the road - any ID?

The Mercedes is a W123 so it would be 77-85, not sure if they US got the 240D model for the whole run. The 300D is much more common because it has enough power to almost not be dangerous. Not really worth anything unless it is in top condition.
The van looks like an IH Metro Van.

Mercury is a Cougar 67? To 71?. Yellow step van is an International Harvester Metro produced from 38 to 72 you need to be an aficionado to tell the difference.

The 240d is a euro model because of the small bumpers and cloth interior. They aren't worth much especially in that condition. Dangerously slow in todays traffic.

It's a '67-'68 Cougar.
Its a '67.
1968 was the first year of a lot of safety features, one of which is side viewable turn signals. The '68 had this MASSIVE turn signal midway up the fender ahead of the front wheel.
Yup... IH Metro. Used to have one. Pretty neat little buggies.
Buy the 240, power wash it, LS swap. Hilarity will ensue.

He really way.
You can read a little about him over on the Classic Motorsports site: Studebaker Avanti: The World's Fastest Production Car.
