My theory - they're ALL for sale. If you'd been taking care of one for a few months, wouldn't you probably want someone else to relieve you of the burden too?

I put 40k miles on a Milano and it wasn't all that bad, I would have kept it if I could have more than one car at a time.

Cheap buy in. Very good handling for FWD with double A arm suspension. You can swap on the T5 injection from the later 90's and program it yourself from a lap top, no need for mega squirt. There are LSD's available. Bolt on wheel and brake options too. There's a ton of info over on saabrally.com

I'd like to hear more about the Saabs, actually. There's no substitute for BOOST!

Anybody track one of these?

In reply to Josh:

The cheapest (and only) transaxle Alfa within 400 miles of me has an asking price of $8k. That is pretty typical for CA, apparently. We like our Alfas out here.

I am also curious about the Saabs. I had an 87 900 turbo when I was in college, and it was a cool little car.

I think displacement is a pretty good substitute really.

I've driven turbo cars. In fact, the last two I've owned were turbo cars. I've also driven V8's of varying capacities from 5.0 liters to 6.0+. The V8 cars are really impressive in terms of reliability, ease of maintenance, and power. A turbo car can get better gas mileage but if we're talking track cars that's not usually high on the priority list.

My thoughts are get an Fbody and let me know how it goes. If I get back in the market I may go that route as well.

..also, someone mentioned chassis flex in the Fbodies. Yeah, they're flexible from the factory but if you're going to track one you'll most likely end up with at least a roll bar and most likely a full cage. That takes care of chassis flex. Also, keep in mind that subframe connectors are usually installed on Fox body 'stangs. Why not install subframe connectors in the Fbodies?

I thought chassis flex was a "feature" designed into almost all cars built in the 80s.

Well, yes, of course it is!

But still, there's something to be said for a turbo car from the 80s, most of which seem to have a lot of potential for cheap power by simply turning up the boost. I suppose it has something to do with the fact that it was harder to know where the absolute limit was in those days, so the engineers tended to design pretty conservatively in terms of compression ratios, timing, etc.

Oh yeah. There's an SVO for sale in my town for under $5k that looks real nice...

I live about an hour from where that $8k car is, and I had a hard time even getting $900 for my Milano, and all that was wrong with it was a leaking input shaft seal on the transaxle, I had still be driving it everyday. Someone even got a running one from a tow yard for $200 lol.
