Peugeot 405. Almost comically stuffed and bolstered, amazingly comfortable.
The Recaros w/ADJUSTIBLE LUMBAR SUPPORT in my ctsv......if what you're looking at doesn't have it ....then your back is in WAY better shape than mine. Back and forth from Houston to Birmingham is a snap.
The Old Turbo Daytona's with the power enthusiast seat option. I had an 88, and loved the velour. I currently DD an '89 Probe GT Turbo and its really awesome also!!! almost like a well broken in Sofa!

I'm looking for seats for my 94 Ranger, and I know the answer is Volvo, but I don't want leather. I have yet to find a single non-leather volvo seat.
What is the answer for tan/brown cloth?
1984 Lincoln Town car. Just huge bean bags. The 05 Spec V seats were pretty nice too. This pic give me nostalgic memories of my dad taking me to McDonald's after soccer practice and we would sit in the car and listen to pink Floyd while vibing and eating fries
Volvo 850s and 70-series did offer cloth, but yes, leather was more popular.

I always found the seats in my Chevy Astros to be surprisingly comfortable and they used the same beige/brown upholstery for a decade. Should be easy to find.
For both long-distance comfort and support (at least for me, 6'0, 175) you'll be suprised that I'll say my 2009 WRX had the BEST seats, followed closely by my 2018 GTI (which are just a bit too firm to be the ultimate). Just the right shape and angles for me, I guess. For ultra-cheap stuff, 90s Acura seats are pretty good.
Obviously, if you just want sheer cushiness, plenty of things from the 70s and 80s can meet that requirement, with almost no support.....
When I'm buying a car, seats are one of my top-3 priorities since I drive a lot. So I've sat in a lot of seats at dealers and car shows, and those two, at least in the reasonably affordable car range, are the best in my book.
Sporty-ish seats that I personally do NOT consider comfortable (or, at best, "average): Any econo-focused VW; Any Porsche from the 80s or 90s; Any BMW, pretty much ever; Any Mazda (Miatas are the worst, in my opinion, I dare say); most Toyotas other than sportscars and Lexuses....
My personal favorite is the Recaro seats in the RX8

I have that car, same color even. Those seats were snug when I got the car (180 lbs), way too cramped a couple years later (me at 215lbs) and now *perfect* (now at 155lbs). Everything about the driving position in that car is perfect in my opinion.
Most comfy seats however I'd have to say my mom's 1988 supra. Just the right amount of cushion but support, and the car rides smooth too on whatever witchcraft adjustable 80's suspension it has. Someone mentioned the Phaeton earlier, those are nice but my parents have a phaeton too, and back to back the supra seats are better. Front seats. Rear seats in the phaeton beat all other rear seats. Ridiculous levels of adjustability aside, the phaeton seats are just a hair too firm and lack side support IMO
Cloth Volvo seats do exist. I find the old 140 series seats to be even more comfortable than 240 seats. They are also easier to repair internally. Bigger problem is brown. It is very rare in Volvo. Talk to a Volvo specialist like Susquehana Spares, they are local t you.

My W210 Mercedes Wagon has the air adjutable seats and they are phenominal and Im 6ft 3 300lbs with back problems, I drive a ton of highway miles and they are always good to me.
I'm going for two main things:
1- long distance comfort
2- smaller volume
The truck will never out-handle whatever seats I put in it, so comfy for long distances is key. That also means that big side bolsters are not only not required, but would also make hopping up into the seat a bit more challenging. In fact, that's one of the reasons I'm swapping seats; the butt-bolsters are worn/torn.
Bonus points if the seats are lower than stock. It's not that I'm lacking headroom, but the current height of the seats makes seeing things like traffic lights difficult. I have to lean forward to see them
It's also a cramped interior, so couches like the Lincoln are likely not a good choice.

Besides Volvo, which I agree with, the mosty comfy OEM seats I can recall were in our Bonneville. Not sure if you can find them in tan cloth, but worth a look.
Thanks all. I'll try to find some tan volvo seats. I would do seat covers like covercraft, but even the $500 versions still look like E36 M3ty seat covers.
Maybe is there a good source for buying replacement upholstery? I have a feeling that any seats I find from a 140 or 240 will be wasted. Even a 750/850. But if I can find replacement upholstery already sewn up and spec the fabric/color I want, that frees up my choices a bit. I'm actually not a bad seamster and could make a pattern and make my own, but I don't think I'm THAT good. Probably worth the price to buy the jackets and squeeze them over the seats. Any sources?

These were all the rage for Impala SS owners. They swap in and then you can wire up the 9-way adjustment switches. I recall they were taller in the buttrest area, but I'll measure and find out.

The bigger problem than surface upholstery on 240 seats is that the molded foam inserts break down. Sometimes they can be sourced, but recently I have not seen availability. 140 seats have rubber strap webbing which is much easier to DIY. They are also considerably wider if that is an issue. Tan (well Volvo called it gold) is pretty common for 240. Cloth is rare for 140, common for 240. I have not checked for covers, have not yet neded them.
Aw crap. In all this time, one fundamental thing has escaped me. I forgot that I will need coupe seats, not sedan. This truck is an extended cab.
That limits my options big time. I found some sweet chocolate leather E90 sport seats with heat, only to realize they're from a sedan.
The Infiniti G coupe seats were very impressive in the showroom. (I was wandering around while my sister bought a Q35.) That said, whoever discussed hip points in the 1st generation of this thread made a good, um, point: I honestly don't know how putting coupe seats in a truck would work with the pedals and the wheel and stuff. Guess you'll have to try it and see, then report back to the class.

2 door Volvo seats are premium priced when you find them, super rare.
My search yesterday turned up some really nice E90 seats and some super clean WRX seats, but they are both from 4dr.
