Mrs. Editor has been looking at new cars, meaning her Electron Blue 2000 Honda Civic Si might be up for sale. The market used to be flooded with these, but now I'm only seeing rats, salvage titles and poorly modified examples. What's a clean, one-owner, girl-driven, not-screwed-up Civic Si worth these days? Mods are limited yet tasteful: Comptech rear bar, exhaust and header; custom-valved Bilsteins; Ground Controls; and Rota wheels. Or is eBay Motors the answer? Honestly, I'm thinking it is.
That's a 4500 car around here. Maybe a little more even.
Ebay might be the answer, but you might end up with a similar experience to me when I tried to sell the CRX, namely that it's still viewed as a cheap car and people don't necessarily pay extra for non-hacked up examples.
That said, there was a completely stock adult owned one for sale out here a couple of months ago for (IIRC) around $8k, and it fell off CL within a couple of weeks so I'm assuming it sold.
Swap for a 1st gen CRX with a bit of cash on top?
What are the miles? Ebay Motors might not be a bad place to drum up some interest. I do think $4500 is the money though.
Mmmm. I already flew to Florida to buy one car from you, might need to do it again.
Do you still have the stock parts?
In California that's a 6-8k car just because it's not salvaged/stolen
Maybe eBay.
I've always liked these, count me as another interested party.
I have been wondering the same thing I have a 99 with 163k and a few tasteful mods (Tien coilovers, DC Sports strut bars, header and intake). Probably going to sell it next year.
Whatever it is, it goes up the farther northeast you go.
I think its worth about $6k. Could go higher on eBay.

Yes. We even have the stock tires on the stock wheels.

Yeah, I can totally see that.
Hmm, can you post picts and give a few more details? 2/4 door? Manual/Auto? My sister just bought a standard civic for her 16 yr old daughter (5 spd was a requirement). She looked at some newer si's but they a bit out of her $$ range. Now, she kinda wishes she had gotten an Si as the stabdard civic is a bit of a yawn to drive.
I think it'll get you a built motor turbo miata minus $2000. You want?
Around here, NADAguides put it at 5650. I think 6-6500 with mods would be fair.
I really hope you guys put it on here first!

I would guess 7k. A clean, non-destroyed, electron blue civic Si is kind of a Unicorn. When someone offer you 4500 tell them "...find another one".
Clearbook has it under 5k, but that doesn't consider color, records, etc.
List it for $6500, come down to 6k and maybe it will sell quickly.

Tempting, but we already have a Miata.
And hobiercr, all of the Civic Si's were five-speed coupes that year.
Or... Trade you a 2004 RX-8 with some cash your way.

FYI and this isn't apples to apples … I just sold my '01 Integra LS (93k miles) asp
paint and finish was ok … it's lived outdoors it's entire life … normal scratches, one small dent, never smoked in, never EVER driven on a salt road …
second interested party bought it the next day $5500
As you can see from the responses here, you'll get a ton of interest in the car. On Ebaymotors, I'll bet every 19 year old with their pants halfway down and hat sideways will salivate over it. Just be prepared for a lot of "Lemme make sure my parents say it's cool" or "Yo dude, like, why are the wheels not at 15 degrees camber, is something wrong with it?? LOLZ..." questions.
