Let's say I won the lottery and just completely indulged my crazy side.

Let's say I would have a competition where the winner would receive me buying them ANY 1 car for less than $70k asking price.

Rules - has to be a known asking price - no "still going" auctions without a buy it now. Have to post listing.

One (1) vehicle, $70k ask or less.

Must post verification of price (ad or webshot or link or something)

no one said anything about new. If you want a fully rusted out Chevette go for it.

What's the point of the vehicle? Driving to work on a boring freeway or autocrossing and tracking it? I don't see one car doing both terribly well.

Well that is up to you. Your choice. What car would you pick that someone would pay up to $70k and give to you?

At this point in my life, probably one that would sell the fastest.

The only car that I really desire to have right now is an ND Miata. That may change when the new Alfa Spider comes out. But new/old- not so much anymore. I've collected cars, and sold them. See no reason to re-start that.

As much as I'd love to say C7 Corvette, the practical side of me realizes that the family comes first. So I'm gonna say "Suburban". Big safe and reliable, able to road trip across the country without breaking a sweat. (Maybe towing the Miata for track adventures).

Assuming you could find one of these for MSRP, that was my first choice too. I'm not sure what type of mark-up these are getting these days...

of course, the Porsche configurator tells me I can get a Cayman S with only the sport suspension, PDK, and delivery charge for $70k and still have enough left over for a cheap cheeseburger....

Given the choice, I'd ride the pony.

Colorado Diesel. Though a used CTS-V wagon, several new Volvos and the MX-5 Global Cup car would all be tempting.

Hmm, maybe a Jaguar F-type convertible V6 with a manual transmission.

Or maybe a loaded Audi S4, again with manual transmission.

If new is not a requirement, then this thread gets craaaaaaayyyzzzeeeeee.

Along those lines, calling Keith about a turn key off road V8 exocet with the yet to be built long travel suspension option would have to be considered.

I was shocked at the prices too. I took one look and was stunned that it's an apparently successful business. They've been at it for 22 years and restored over 1,800. If they've sold every one they've restored that's just under 82 per year. At those prices I'd have to assume there's a healthy profit on each one. That's the sort of thing I dream up at work then dismiss as never having at chance at turning a profit.

Shows what I know about sales and running a business.
