The ad does not mention miles but I swear the pictures show 17k miles.
Please keep me from a 5 hr drive and buying a car a do not need (but want!)

FWIW, I have a friend an hour north of Indy(Lafayette) with some rare/gray-market M535i or somesuch that he's itching to get rid of. Really, really, nice clean original car that developed some mechanical problem a few years ago & he's too damn stubborn to take it to a shop or listen to any of us with more troubleshooting experience. I think he wants close to 2x as much as the one above though.

$3600 is pretty high for a 528e, but on the other hand for the most part it does look very clean and the mileage looks like 17k to me too. However, on the other hand (again) the carpet looks pretty fllthy and there's some wear on the driver's seat that don't fit with a low miles car.

Twice that much for a non-op M535i is also pretty high, unless the mechanical issue is something minor (I have an M535i myself, they are neat cars.)

Look at the hood gap and the front bumper. Methinks a left front hit.

Condition/mileage looks about right to me, could be someone driving lots of short trips = lots of seat wear.

Save the drive and have a shop look the car over, someone local to Indy should know of a decent bmw shop.

*edit - Tommy does have a good point about the drivers front corner.

Funny not to advertise it as having ridiculously low mileage, if that was the case.

I will never understand why folks are reluctant to put the mileage of the vehicle in their CL ads.

At least this one also has pix of the engine and interior so you can see which engine and transmission it has. Doesn't the 528e have the 121 HP engine also used in the 325e? Oh well, at least you can swap a better/more powerful engine in there. And it may account for why the mileage is an issue.

Does the last digit on a BMW odometer register whole miles, or tenths? That might be 101,700 miles.

The last digit is whole miles, tenths show up on the trip meter below.

Considering 80's bimmers are notorious for gauge clusters failures, I'd guarantee that car isn't showing actual mileage. If it is actual mileage the seller's an idiot for no mentioning it.
