Simply amazing!...

Just got it back today. New transmission, new clutch assembly, new flywheel. No fight whatsoever.

They're claiming the dual-mass flywheel "came apart" and put that hole in the bellhousing. I really don't care how it happened, I'm just happy it's fixed.

shhhhhhh....

He's blissfully ignorant now. I know some of the cars I've owned were not treated with care. They were ok....usually.

Wouldn't the flywheel coming apart cause a rather obvious driveablilty problem?

reply to skruffy. I have a 2000 Ford ZX2 and it has never been back to the dealer for warranty or recall work. How does that compare to your VW ?

Hmmm... bout the same as my Stratus. How much have you spent on maintenance?

$20.00 oil changes every 5K miles for 81,000 miles. One set of used tires that I didn't pay for and a tire plug. A set of front pads and rotors because my wife swore she needed brakes, at 65k there was 30% pad left. That's it.

But you don't have the European car ownership experiance.

The only money I've spent on maintenance is one oil change that I did myself.

And yeah, I'm sure escorts and stratuses are reliable, but I like the GTI enough to put up with it's quirkiness.

I'm sorry, I didn't realize you were a sadist. In that case all is good!

Mean while, down the street at the Ford stealership.

Torqued Customer:

Fugzamattawidyou! Every time I bring it in here you tell me there's nothing wrong with it!
NOW it's overheating!!!

Service Dweeb:
Now now, calm down, lets bring it in and have a look.

34 minutes later in the Stealership waiting room full of B&W TV and 3 year old magazines:

Sir, we've found the problem. This 6" chunk of GM cast iron went through the radiator; must have come off one of theirs.

That's not our fault, not covered under warantee.

Have a nice day.
