That would be a "pack" of coyotes, thank you.

Ever dealt with a cage trap with a coyote in it? It ain't fun, nor is it recommended. Darn good way actually to get real hurt.
They are also darn expensive, and you ain't getting it from havahart, they don't go nearly large enough in their little cage traps.
Harbor Freight and Tractor Supply carry the no-kill traps.
So are all my foothold traps.

Should solve the problem
Or my favorite close range solution

Woody, I saw two in our backyard just before Christmas. I was on the front porch replacing a burned-out bulb and I heard them in the woods. I had a flashlight in hand, so I aimed it in their direction. The larger one actually started walking towards me, and came to the edge of our yard and stopped (roughly 30 ft. away). Then they walked off into the woods. I was stunned that he actually came towards me, that's not a good sign.
Cooper (our 8lb Papillon) gets escorted outside as he does his business each night. Otherwise, he'd make a nice little snack for the coyotes.

Why? It just shows he is curious or maybe has been somewhat domesticated by humans somewhere.
My daughter's dog is half coyote.

Yes, I have. .22 LR in the head does quite nicely. But, not everyone wants to dispatch what they've caught.

Great. Coyote on a chain. Correction: Wounded coyote on a chain. And you have safety concerns dealing with a coyote in a cage?
There's always the Rick Perry approach to nuisance coyotes:

I have a kid who is not much bigger.
Kills turkeys /eggs young birds , Oh crap I think that is the normal procession of wife errr I mean life
The safest way to deal with it would be to call the local animal control or game warden.
Antifreeze might also work, but it is a totally indiscriminate killer.
There was a time when people in Boulder, CO thought it was ok for a cougar to share the same living area, as well. It only took a few missing joggers for them to change their minds.

Just sayin'..it's just as possible as being "partially" domesticated.

That would give some strong encouragement not to miss.
