I carry an Opinel. Excellent knife, best I've ever bought for myself. Holds an edge well for the abuse I give it.
Her first day on the job, my wife's training officer asked how many knives she was carrying. When she said none, he told her that most officers carry at least 3, and he carries 6 when he's on duty. She has picked up several since then.
FWIW - The sharpest knife that I have ever encountered (including scalpels) is my fathers classic Buck Knife. That thing will go through a deer like a hot knife through butter. When someone has one of these on their belt, you know they mean business!
i had two of these and loved them
CRKT Delilah's P.E.C.K. Folding Knife Product Info
The CRKT Delilah's P.E.C.K. Knife (or Precision Engineered Compact Knife) is designer Ed Halligan's baby, weighing less than 1 oz. and only 2.625 inches long when closed. When open, the CRKT Delilah PECK Knife features a graceful 1.75" Razor-Sharp Wharncliffe blade that is a high-performance cutting tool suited for hundreds of daily tasks. A thumb stud is used to one-hand open the blade, and as the blade is fully rotated open, the frame lock snaps crisply in behind the blade to give a sound lockup. The blade can be closed with one hand, simply by releasing the frame lock. The blade features a Wharncliffe grind on the front and flat on the backside-so that when the blade is closed onto its handle/frame, the precision fit effectively "seals" the cutting edge to the frame, even though it's exposed. Both blade and frame are 420J2 stainless steel in a fine bead-blast finish.
The design of the CRKT Delilah's PECK K.I.S.S. Series Knives includes a pocket/money clip that permits them to be used in a variety of ways: clipped to the pocket; as a money clip knife; and with split-ring or lanyard, as a key chain knife.
In the wake of the success of the CRKT P.E.C.K. Knives, a flock of imitators has appeared; none offers the simple elegance of Ed Halligan's original design, and none offers the value of CRKT quality manufacturing.

I carried a 3 blade Old Timer for a long time, kept an edge okay and was cheap enough I never lost it. I had on Opinel for a while and it was a seriously sharp blade, and kept it well, but I hated the "Knack" opening thing. These days, it's a classic Victorinox Tinker. I've fixed countless things with it, the blades hold an edge okay ( large blade gets the abuse, keep the small blade for delicate, gotta-be-sharp tasks) and it's small enough to stay in my pocket with all the keys.

I can't recommend against these knives strong enough...
There's pretty much nothing stopping your hand from sliding down onto the blade, and god did I bleed.

Opinel knives are everywhere in France. I've got a collection of them that I picked up when I lived there, usually at various markets. I find I don't carry them regularly as they're a bit bulky, but I like to stash them in cars and toolboxes and bags.
Yeah, I have a couple Opinels stashed in various toolboxes.
Wow. Duke and I agree on something. I must be getting old.
i never had an issue with that...

I, uh...have it on fairly good authority that one of these will go right through a 220 volt power cord just like it was made of butter. Even if it's energized.

check out bear and son cutlery for a low priced, made in US, old school looking pocket knife.
check out offerings from kershaw and spyderco if you want a newer design.
My regular daily carry is a Spyderco Tenacious. Occasionally I carry a SOG Flash II. I have a Kershaw Blur that I love except the clip is tight and tends to tear up the edge of my pockets. I have about 60+ other knives as well.
My EDC is a CRKT DRIFTER, been carrying it for years, for $20 I cant complain at all.
The Morakniv utility knife is by the far the most knife $10 will get ya, just got one, razor out of the box. Get an Opinel if you want a nice razor edge carbon steel folder in a similar price bracket.
