There used to be places where I could actually walk up and pick up something like this. Going online, I'm coming up blank. Where does one go for those miscellaneous electronic bits and pieces nowadays?

For audio stuff, these folks are still around https://www.parts-express.com/

And there's this site https://www.digikey.com/?msockid=18a5762ef5d76c3436876320f4816dac

A couple of friends and I were just discussing this yesterday.  Twenty or thirty years ago, we had locally AVEC Electronics, Busbee, some other store whose name escapes me now, and of course, Radio Shack.  Mail order places like Poly-Paks offered just about anything at rock bottom prices.  Now we have.....  Nothing.

Now, we have only the web.

Parts-Express, Digikey, and Mouser.

Amazon??

ebay???

Digikey and Mouser.

The move from through-hole to surface mount components made DIY repair much less accessible so demand just evaporated. We lost our electronics supply store about 20 years ago.

I use ebay to find obsolete stuff, do not trust Amazon for anything that matters.

I go to the curb and desolder random components from trashed electronics, as long as i can make out the markings.
