being sent to Goodwood in March to support the M23 for 3 days at the Owners Club event. wife is pissed...but I am stoked...told it's just another boring work weekend at the track..nothing special..

Great, I just spent 30 minutes trying to figure out pricing for 2 to spend a week in the UK and go to the Goodwood Revival. (Flight from O'Hare to Heathrow for two was about $2k5 to $3k)

yes, she says its BS she can't go too. She tags along to some events in the US but this is the first overseas one I've "had" to attend. If anyone has ever worked an event, they know what I mean when I say, it's not a vacation. When you're at the track it's all work, and a little meet and greet with some interesting people and you get to see a few cool rides, 6 AM to 6PM and then you get a little down time to eat and go over whats ahead the next day. she thinks I'm going to be running all over England sightseeing and visiting the local pubs of London..... We're looking into possibly stopping by McLaren HQ on Friday after we get in and then dinner with them that night and that's about the extent of the extras. We'll scope out the grounds at Goodwood early Saturday and then it's work time. She came to Amelia Island last year and we spent maybe 3-4 hours total time together to "sightsee", she spent her days lounging around the pool and strolling the beach waiting for me to get back from "work".

Hopefully she'll get over it...who am I kidding, this is gonna cost me big time....

this isn't even the Revival event, it's a members club HPDE type event, we got invited because McLaren wanted a 76 era high airbox car there..

She'll get over it, or if you don't think she will, start saving up for some airfare for her.

started that savings plan already...not due to this..she's been dying to go to Italy to find her roots...may have to advance my schedule on this...

I can't stress enough how awesome this opportunity is. Supercoupe is understating things--the Members Meeting is no mere HPDE. It's like the a mini Festival of Speed + Revival Meeting (the same amazing cars, celebrity drivers and great racing) but invite-only, so no crowds.

I've done the same sort of thing for the Toyota Motorsports Festival in Japan a few times and preped a car for Goodwood. The amount of work never gets accurately relayed to those wishing to go.

Thanks, finally someone who gets it, usually by the time we get in from dinner you just about pass out asleep. When I first started this job I used to take my camera, now I don't bother, no time for casual picture taking.. I am by no means complaining, it is probably the best job I ever had, it just that it's seen by others as all fun times..
