I don't; and not because I'm an old fart (I am, but I'm also the only 41 year old person I know who doesn't use it.) I just got sick of hearing "what so and so said on facebook" during its inception and decided early on it wasn't for me.
But holy E36 M3. I've been scouring craigslist every couple days for the last few months looking for a beater farm truck for around $2k, which, in my neck of the woods, should be a dime a dozen, but every contender is a top-dollar-beater 40+ miles away.
I finally just searched FB marketplace and found multiple sub-$2k trucks within 20 miles.
Anyway, I guess I forgot what the point of this post was, because I'm old, but DAMMIT, I guess I'm a FB user now.
I remain on FB solely for the marketplace and to E36 M3post.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
I will NEVAR have a facebook account!!
Fortunately, I already have more vehicles than I need.
I'm about the same age as you, and also don't and have never "done" Facebook. But the decline of Craigslist and surge of Marketplace has me mulling it over. I think they're overtly evil and a horrible company and platform at this point. Early on I just didn't want a social network - at this point I don't want THAT social network.
You're not the only person that has been forced to FB Marketplace because of diminishing Craigslist ads.
Search in Auto Parts for sale on Craigslist. It's amazing how many running parts cars there are for sale with titles since that $5 fee took effect.
The one good thing about Marketplace compared to Craigslist is that there's no way to hide behind anonymity. If you're scamming people, you're doing it under your own name, or at least someone's name. Other than that, I prefer CL. But the market has spoken, and it prefers Facebook, about which I'm fairly ambivalent.
I know they are in the data harvesting business, so I limit how much I share with them. Google already knows me better than my family does, after all.

It's not so bad. The more information Facebook has about you, the better they can serve you.

Hey, for at least three more months or so, I'm also a old fart at 41 who doesn't facebook.
Not worth it IMO.
In reply to Patrick :

Also, I don't have to have an account to look, so I'm just sendin links to Mrs. Poop.

Carli is our marketplace parts director, i just tell her what i need and she looks
E36 M3 yeah!
I used to be on it, but the mass nastineness about this time of year in 2016 chased me away. I see it as a drug to which I was formerly addicted, and it is rough that almost everyone around me is on it.
We seldomly send cards, or call for birthdays now, and now they've ruined Craigslist! The fine print in their updates contain lots of clauses most of us would be hard pressed to sign, but we glaze over it to get our "fix".
The news reports what somebody tweets, or their updates, and far too many conversations start with "I/she/he posted".
This is not meant to flounder, and my views are my own, and worth every penny you paid for them. Rant off.
Berkley Zuckerberg. I'll just do with whatever scraps still turn up on CL.
I'm 23 and hate facebook for anything but memes, E36 M3posts and marketplace. If one of my family members finds me and adds me I'll add them back just to be nice but usually immediately unfollow them so I can't see whatever nonsense they post.
No I don't care what [person I shouldn't name here because rules] said. No I won't pray for your neighbor's cousin's wife's old roommate's dog. No I won't donate to save the starving Koalas. Just...no...
Where was I? Oh. Yeah if you don't use Facebook you're probably smarter than me.
The only problem is I've also found:
Under $3k: Multiple manual Fits, MINIs, and a Fiat 500.
Under $2k: A couple MP5's and an 87 CRX.
Under $1k: Festiva.

Was starting another fake account last week since my game backup account got shut down. They want a phone number and face pic just to sign up now. Nooooooope. Have been off platform since 2011, will stay off platform forever it seems.
My problem is, I already find enough stuff I can't afford and shouldn't buy on CL and Copart, I don't really need another source for it!
I got rid of FB about 3-4 years ago and I'm only 33!
I too got tired of all the crap people post quick, and never looked back.
Im with you it is getting hard to find good deals on Craigs , but I refuse to give in to FB marketplace

It's a weird dynamic out in the sticks, as far as I can tell. A lot of these folks didn't have internet until everyone & their cousin had to have a smart phone. And Appalachian Americans love Jerry Springer drama like they love Milk Sandwiches, so FB is a perfect fit. So the only people who post stuff on CL are luddites like me, I guess.
I resisted until this summer, but nearly all of the local and regional autocross discussion is on fbook. I was missing too much information.
What finally pushed me over was when I needed to sell a Miata. I wanted as much exposure as possible.
I altered my name; my photo is my autocross car. I also haven't installed the app, and I'm not going to.

I resisted for a long time, but I'm a recent convert to Facebook Marketplace. I bought a car through FM that I popped up 14 minutes after it was listed, and I sold a scooter and a set of wheels withing a couple of hours of posting them.
Facebook marketplace is the new Craigslist.

E36 M3posting has become one of my favorite hobbies.
Just be aware the search engine is terrible.
