That was what prompted me to grab one for myself too.

Going to Florida this weekend to hopefully have a great long weekend with my family. Unless work decides to rob the joy from my trip like it has done so many times in the past.
A permanent move to Florida seems like a good idea this time of year. Berk winter and this endless grey black snow bull E36 M3.
Thanks for listening I feel better.
bobzilla said:After the never ending pandemic, the never ending poiical discourse and constant negativity surrounding our daily lives and winter hitting us, the D has once again taken a large chunk of my ability to care and carry on. So my request:
Everyone go out and enjoy yourself today. Tomorrow. Next week. Please, go find happiness and joy. You don't need to share it, or make someone else happy. I only want YOU to find peace and joy, even if only for a little bit.
That's my whole request. Find a kernel of happiness and joy for yourself.
As requested, I took 45 min this evening for myself. Cold beverage (been cutting back on the booze, for...reasons), something good on TV, and $20 worth of entertainment:
It made me happy :). With staying/working/always/always/always at home through COVID, I've found this helps. And it's cheaper than a meal out. I encourage you all to buy a Speed Champions lego (or whatever theme you like) and try my form of therapy for yourself.

love you too man.
I think we need to find warmer climates that aren't so damn gray.
Come on down, we have a spare room & the RV is vacant too. Plane, train or auto, or you could just jump into the Wabash & I'll fish you out in Nola, whatever works.
I fired up the lathe yesterday for the first time in a year. I forgot how satisfying turning big pieces of metal into small pieces can be.
I'm glad to see people getting joy. It's a 4 week wait to get an appointment to be interviewed to see a therapist now and no guarantees it'd be in person. I stopped because the virtual sessions were of no use to me. I get my feedback from person to person interaction. Being segregated and isolated doesn't do it for me.

google maps says from your profile location to my profile location is 4-1/2 hours, midpoint is Ft Wayne. you up to a road trip? i could use some help doing absolutely nothing on MonZora.

Next few weekends are packed for me. I have to start prepping for one lap, get the mower in and apart so I can get a replacement engine and sone stupid house crap I've put off.
Edit: but I do appreciate the offer.
Bob, you've got my number. I'm not a professional and I know I'm a bit out of the way but if you have the time I can get you all the face to face you want and plenty of sunshine. We even have an international airport.
I dragged myself to the top of one of the local "mountains" yesterday (it's only like 1300ft - I can't call it a mountain with a straight face). Trails were covered with a good inch of solid ice, and virtually devoid of other hikers, which was glorious. I find overcoming challenging obstacles to be quite rewarding, especially if there's some risk involved. The payoff was nice too.

It's my goofy thing.
Wife turns on HGTV and I ask if we're going to watch Design on a Dime or Room with a View which hasn't been on in years. So I'll asked if she wants to watch Regis Filbin and Kathie Lee on Monday.
Wife feels it hasnt been funny for 20 years now.

I agree. The online sessions don't do squat for me. I had a beer last night and toasted in your general direction.
In reply to bobzilla :
Make some bread. Seriously, I berkleyed around with it last night just eyeballing ingredients and using yeast two years past the sell-by date. Let it rise in the fridge over night and baked it this morning. I made a bacon & egg sammich before I went to work and I'm not dead yet.
Make some bread. The smell will fill you with all that's good in life and you'll be compelled to make the next batch better so you'll have a purpose.
Feel better, mang.

It’s supposed to be seasonally warm and sunny here tomorrow. I promise to take my lazy and ever expanding ass out for a good walk in the woods if you’ll please try to do the same or something similar that will help you feel better.
You’re a good person with value to those around you. No doubt there are numerous shiny happy people in all shapes and flavors out there these days, don’t let them grind you down. They’ve always been there to one degree or another, it’s just way easier for a few to amplify whatever hot button issue de jour that they’ve chosen to push. No doubt the time from January through late April (for me anyway) can be challenging with limited sun, cold temps and in my case the completion of another trip around the sun and pondering how many more I’ll get a swing at...
I get it, there’s a lot to process right now. We’re all tired of not being able to get together and do things that we enjoyed. I also believe that we’re closer to the end of this current trial than we are to the beginning. I hope you’re able to get that appointment soon and that someone is able to see you in person. In the meantime please take care and I hope you can find a reason to smile soon.

+A milli0n times this.
A quick story: my college roommate was (and is) obsesssed with Saturn SW2's. I don't get it, but his level of passion makes me laugh, and they bring him joy, so I'm happy that he's happy. Bobzilla, I want you to know that you hold that place for Korean cars. I obviously only know you from your posts on the forum, but they make me smile and I admire you're flying of the banner for Korean cars and hyping their virtues, even if I don't always agree. I still haven't owned one, but you're slowly eroding my biases against them :). I hope you find your own kernel of happiness soon. Your extended GRM family's got your back.
I heeded your advise today Bob. After taking the kids to school, came back home and took a ride on the motorcycle. No set destination, but headed south towards Miami. Just rode aimlessly making turns as soon as I would hit any traffic.
Some pictures:
Washed the car yesterday and today I find this, not even pissed.
Just by chance I happened to turn and find Mr Temerian's place. Some cool cars ... not one but two F40s, some Lamborghinis, a Jaguar XJ220, etc
One of my fork seals is leaking, decided to stop by the dealer so they can check it out. Seal ordered and they will replace under warranty in a couple of weeks.
This is a tiny BMW dealership, family owned since the 50's. Excellent service and you deal with the owners, no BS.
They always have some cool bikes.
Got home and found the lizard I wounded two days ago and run away ... moved it right out of my neighbor's door accross the street. Him or his wife are going to have a heart attack tomorrow morning, they hate them. Great day.

If this does come to pass, let's do a Detroit meet up somewhere. It's a good group to hang out with for sure.
Just because everyone is busy being angry doesn't mean we can't still enjoy things.
I just spent almost 3 hours in a taco Johns with two guys that are amazing people and it felt great. Even if it is below freezing and snowing.
