And that's how they keep it the happiest place on earth. Control your kids!!!!
Why go to some place that you hate? Do you just like to complain? Send the kids with mom and stay home telling those darn kids to get off your lawn.
I don’t get the hate. We’ve taken our kids several times to Disney, Epcot, animal kingdom etc although at 11 and 17 they are beyond that now. The other option is Busch gardens, the kids love that as it’s animal focused and it’s got free, well I won’t call it beer, but there is essentially unlimited alcohol there. The first time was about 9 years ago, I was concerned I’d be bored, but I was fine going. I loved it. You engage with your child, especially the youngest ones and learn to see the rides from their perspective. Kids really do see things differently to adults. I will never forget when we went to dinner one night and Tiger came to our table. The youngest was in ecstasy, but fell asleep from blissful exhaustion before the meal was over. We’ve also done family trips where mom and grandma took the girls to animal kingdom and me and grandpa went to Epcot, that’s totally enjoyable as an adult with no kids as others have said. I don’t understand people who go back year after year without doing other kinds of vacations. We’ve also taken the kids to Kennedy and we saw a shuttle launch once (Really an amazing site), been on cruises, been to Mexico, UK, Germany, Sweden, Denmark etc etc as well as all over the US. Mix it up, something new each year.

I don't get that at all. My almost brother-in-law's family goes to Disney for two weeks twice a year. My mind is boggled when I think about what else four weeks at Disney for four people could buy, and how many other amazing places they could go. For the love of Pete, show those kids something new!
Travel is great. Expose everybody to new things, see different ways of life. Especially if you leave the USA, you will have a better appreciation for home when you get back.

I usually have the opposite reaction... I picture myself sitting by blue water and never going home.

That's strange. I love vacations and travel, so do my family (It's the reason I don't have a toy car right now) But no matter where I've been and how great it is, I like coming home again. I honelsty love SE Michingan, it's a great place to live.
