Not going to ask how you feel... I am sure you are pretty sore. Stupid girl possibly just ruined her life for the forseable future. Not only will she not get her license for a while now.. but I doubt insurance will cover her for the accident.

Hopefully that will not screw you too

Glad you are ok, that looks like a good hit. As long as the car was insured you shouldn't be screwed. Even if the car took of with no driver they need to cover it. The 5.3s are usless. If you send it to me I will put it in my Monte until it can be disposed of properly.

As squished as the front of your truck is, are you sure the 5.3 even made it through unscathed? Glad you are here telling us about it...

Best you had the truck and not something classic or two wheeled!

Glad you can tell the tale.

5.3 is LS1 in disguise. I'll dispose of it for you in my P71!

Glad you're ok, that looks like it hurts.

I think the 5.3 is in the passenger seat of the Impala!

Seriously though, I wouldn't bother with the 5.3 they are cheeeeeeeeeeeeeap at the boneyard. As bad a hit as that was you probably broke most of the stuff up front anyway.

I've heard this a lot lately. That insurance companies try to deny claims. Isn't that what I have insurance for. If I mess up?

Ninja EDIT.

Ahh didn't see the unlicensed part.. Yeah.. she's so screwed.

Just from the looks of it -- seems like the truck did exactly what it was supposed to do to keep you safe -- cab looks intact, glass isn't even broken from what I can see in the pics.

Best thing is that you are okay and can type this message out on the day after. You will, but get thee to a doctor just to start a history while all is fresh in your mind.

And I'd leave the powertrain alone -- can't imagine a hit at 60 directly center to the vehicle did any favors to the engine.

DAYYUM that was a hard hit. I'm assuming the other side of the Impala has a titanic dent approximately the same shape? If she'd been pulling out from the other side of the road, it would have been suicide by stupidity.

Sorry to hear you're banged up but very glad to hear you are with us to type about it. Good luck with the resolution.

Reminds me of what happened yesterday- my friend was riding a go kart. Go kart flips. Friend does somersault, 270 flip IN THE AIR, and then lands by doing a Sort-of Parkour roll. New underpants, new $20 pair of jeans, 1 band-aid, 3 bags of ice, and 12 hours later (I called him at 10 PM), He was as good as new. I think that supercharger needed a little less boost...

Look at it this way, if you haven't almost died at least 10 times in your lifetime, you haven't lived. BTW, I'm glad you're both OK.

Id pass on buying it back. I bet when you look at the engine it will be damaged beyond repair. I"m glad everyone survived, i hope that will be that girls last time driving a car for quite some time though.

I wouldn't bother buying back that truck, the engine is probably DBR. And the girl who hit you is SOL, as she should be. Get well soon!

That'll buff right out.

Seriously I was in one of those wrecks a few years ago, the other car was unlicensed and uninsured, they walked away and of the four of us I was the lucky one who was uninjured. The injured people had years of contest to get their settlements as each insurance company was trying to blame someone else, the guilty driver had no penalty beyond a traffic ticket and a fine.

Not saying anything but that was a 17 year old girl also.

The system sucks

It is incredible that someone can walk away from that. Hell, what do I mean, just surviving is incredible. Reminds me of the current Subaru ad where the guy goes to visit his totaled car that saved his life. As much as I drive dangerous roads, never had anything like that happen. And I'm very thankful for that. Good luck, and God bless.
