buy as many BMX Videos from the 90s as you can. Play them without watching the TV = all the great early punk rock you could ever want...and the graphic audio rendition of bodily harm interlaced with the music can be considered a bonus (adds to the ambiance)

Y'all would start this thread during the week I was moving!
Since I'm late to the party, I'll actually recommend a book.

Always surprises me no one ever mentions Hot Rod Circuit.
The band that chris carrabbabaaba left to do the dashboard thing falls pretty squarely in the melodic punk/emo range, Further Seems Forever.
Taking Back Sunday, Brand New and Midtown are pretty quintessentially punk emo (as opposed to pop) imho.

EMO...*shudder*
That took less time than I expected.
Really though, wouldn't classify HRC as emo. Worth checking out.
Hi, is this the Dillinger Escape Plan thread? No? Sorry.

The Mitty's coming, dude. I skipped it last year because I was informed that I was being laid off a few months in advance. Didn't take the days off because they said they'd give me a day's pay for every one I'd accrued and didn't use. Skipped Sebring last year for the same reason.
Didn't we party for a minute at Mitty 2010? I recall being camped not far from where the Superturd was parked back behind T3..
We did, but only briefly. I think you were trying to keep your children away from the hongs. Good call there.

bands like sunny day had not only created but perfected that 'brand' of emo while those clowns were E36 M3ting their pants and playing menudo covers, which their originals might as well be.
Point of interest: Last night on Sirius XMU OldSchool, the DJ (Jenny Eliscu--a musical encyclopedia) commented that the artwork for Sunny Day Real Estate's Diary is considered to be definitive emo album art (Fisher Price people in negative settings).
Punk, like this thread, will never die!!
good local band out of North Atlanta called "The Bastard Suns" have taken off. Been blasting their tunes lately as well as some Slightly Stoopid (song called Ese Loco is bueno).
lately I cant get enough NOFX, Minor Threat, and Face to Face, but skip past Black Flag and Suicidal Tendencies. ANd just the other day I found myself thinking how I never gave bands like Millencolin and Finch a chance back in the day...I think Im getting soft
I'm lovin me some Millencolin right now. Biftek Supernova, Birdie, Material Boy, Dance Craze are some good ones.
Also blasting some Lagwagon "Choke"...

mmm, Finch is good.
Can Finch really be called "punk?" Maybe their first album could be post-punk i guess.
