iirc, in the early 2000's there was a malt lemonade brand that was a competitor to Mike's. Also iirc, it had a wasp (or bee) as the logo with the stinger out. I cannot remember the brand name and I'm pretty sure they are out of business.
Anyone remember this and/or the brand name? Oh, I think it just came to me "One Eyed Jack." Does that sound familiar to anyone? It was sharper than Mike's and a perfect breakfast beverage with a little orange juice added.
This guy sure didn't like it. Heathen.
I think I remember it but I have never had one.
What all the crazy kids were drinking back in 2000
"Tastes more like a mixer." I can live with that assessment.
Now that riddle is solved, anyone have a current flavored malt alternative they can stand? Summer is coming and I find my palette turns to a shandy or a radler (like a Stiegl) over my normal darker ale.
I have nothing to add other than that I enjoy a Stiegl every now and again, and there isnt a substitute for Stiegl.
I enjoy a nice Okocim or Zywiec for breakfast on some weekends.
I greatly dislike Leines summer shandy. Can't decide if it's a beer or a lemonade, so it half asses both. It's tarnishing the good name of Leinenkugel.

I like the Leinenkugel Summer Shandy in quantity of about two per summer. Beyond that it gets annoying to me mostly for the same reason you said.
I make my own shandy's. Don't laugh but PBR and some lemonade is pretty solid.

I have been drinking this. Its good, but I also like regular Arnold Palmers w/ Vodka (John Daly)
There's a pineapple cider that my wife likes a lot. It's a good summer time drink

I'm pretty happy with most of the new hard seltzer's. Some of the lemonade ones are a bit sweet, but the rest are fine. Or you can try a nice gose. I like those a lot when it's hot out. Good quality hard ciders are nice too. I like the dry ones far more than sweet or semisweet.

Love me a good gose! My hometown of Dunedin, FL has at least 7 microbreweries and at least one will have a Gose on tap and often a Saison. I think I really like the One Eyed Jack because it was SO tart. It just made you pucker when you drank it. Not something you wanted every day, but nice when you needed it.
