And I thought I was a douche for having a hair-band money clip. Best of all worlds, but embarassing when you go out to dinner and pull out your 'money clip'. The binder clip had edges that were too sharp. I used to have a morgan silver dollar money clip, but after it broke, I never replaced it.

Yeah, but the Coinstar machine takes a cut - something like 8%, isn't it? I think it's better to spend change as you get it - I rarely have more than 50 cents' worth in my pocket.

Coinstar only takes a cut if you get cash. You get 100% if you take it as a gift card from Amazon or other choices they have.

My "clip" is magnetic. It also has a place for 6 to 8 cards. The magnets won;t hold mor that about 10 bills but I rarely carry that much. The card slot (it only has one keeps the id and other cards from falling out or getting broken. I've had it for about 5 years and it is greatness.

Now if I could get an iphone case made like that wallet that'd be sweet! I'll still keep my money clip though.

Both for me. My Grandmother got me a matched set a few years back as a Christmas present. Money clip goes in the front left pocket along with loose change, a Bic, and a Zippo. Wallet back left with ID's, debit card, and various store discount cards. Right front pocket has keys and a Bic pen. Back right might have a comb. Cargo pants make carrying the cell phone and pack of cigarettes much easier. Though this time of year they normally go in coat pockets.

On the loose change issue I spend the change as quickly as I can and hand cashiers change to minimize money back. This gets frustrating sometimes, like the other day I went through the drive through and the total was $8.28. I gave the cashier $13.33, and got a really confused look. No really just ring it up. $5.05 change, easy. Or, sometimes they just hand the 3.33 back and just ring it up as $10. Seriously, I gave you what I did for a reason. Don't think I'm silly just because you don't understand. It is sometimes funny and sad when they ring it up and go "WOW, How'd you do that?" /rant

Wallet, phone case, big arsed key set, glad I ride all day in a Town Car with the center arm rest and door arm rest cavities, everything goes into a set place and my pockets are empty for my day. Of course the holster stays where it belongs.

I never use my change! I save it all. I have bought with change I saved up: a 1997 escort wagon, a miata tub, a parts miata, an engagent ring, a Remington 11-48, and other stuff around the house. I will break a 1 for anything over 4 cents. it's not free money, but it sorta feels like it.

what's even "funnier" is when the power goes out, and watching the youngsters trying to make change... most haven't a clue..

I carry a men's wallet, but mine only has a few bucks and discount/business cards in it. I use a bulldog clip for foldin' money. I also hoard change and I keep it in a jar on the fireplace. When the jar gets full it's time to buy something cool.

I used to do that, I had a 5 gallon glass jug sitting on my fireplace hearth that was nearly full. Then, I had a breakin, and along with a bunch of other stuff the dirtbags stole that jug. That was when I decided to it wasn't worth letting it just sit around.

At any given time I need: driver's license, insurance cards for 4 cars, medical insurance ID for 2 plans, credit card (1) and ATM card (1).

That's minimum I need to carry. Where would I put all that with a money clip? The minimal cash I carry is virtually irrelevant.

And that's not even counting the discount cards, warehouse club membership, local car club memebership, etc. and the receipts from that day's purchases. I don't even carry those for more than a day or two. I could never survive with all that crap floating looses in my pockets, and it's too much of a PITA to adjust the payload every time I leave the house.

I did the walletectomy several yrs ago and went to the Perry Ellis style front pocket wallet with clip. Cash, amex, a few business cards, carry permit and DL. I used to carry my billfold in my coat pocket but rarely wear a coat ie suit or blazer anymore so this works for me. I get most of my gas from Exxon/Mobil and have one of those great speedpass's with my key. I think that I do have one other gas cards in my wallet.

I only let coinstar count the pennies...I figure the % they take is worth it.

I might be wrong here, but if you get in in the form of a gift card there is no % taken out.

Switched to an All-ETT wallet a few years and will never change. THIN. This thing ate all my cards, cash and receipts and is still thin. Made from spinnaker material so it is VERY light. Their website

Wife and I ran all our coin a few years back and got over $300 (I had 2 jars full of silver). We put it all into an Amazon gift card and it covered christmas that year. The wife used more than her % but we won't go there....

Very strange that. I swear I only scrolled from pg 1 to pg 2 in Off topic and saw this thread on the list. Figured it was current and never even looked at the last post date (I rarely do). Wonder why it showed up like that?

ha, what JRW is saying is that a spammer found a thread in a forum, and posted to it. That put it on the recent topics list. The mods found the canoe before the rest of us (an error that we, the posters here, wont let happen a second time) and deleted the post. you and I are both unwitting victims of the evil of spam.
