I have heard that there are certain crimes that are not put in general population just due to the nature of being in prison, and everyone knows what others did. Pedos are kept away just due to the high probability of violence from other inmates- regardless of the coverage.
But I surely could be wrong. dunno.
You are somewhat correct, but mostly wrong. From my time spent as a CO, we transitioned an entire 2000 person facility(previously seen with rioting Arizonians in Indiana) from general population to a completely sex offender facility. Funny thing is, offender rape reports went down, along with almost every other catagory of offender on offender offenses. We only had 1 attempted rape versus staff(a volunteer teacher), and needless to say....an example was made of that guy.
What I'm trying to say is that, they segregate the offenders.....its not only due to the "Talk" from the GP guys(which is 99% of the time just talk), its mainly due to the classes and counseling that the sex offenders are subject to.
I got tired of working housing units and ended up working in the SHU mental ranges. Never a boring minute down there.

Right, so then Bob, too, would have inflated media and therefore get similar treatment. Were looking at the same thing from two different angles. If we go back and fourth for an hour, we will come to the same decision.

Prison farms. Make them fix the roads and grow their own food. Use the money saved to fix the roads to pay the guards' salaries. I wouldn't be so against prisons if they weren't a total-loss system.
In this state, they make alot of their own stuff, but still......they all get 3 squares and a cot, a roof over their heads, cable, some have air con.....and they all get paid $51/mo by the state as "State Pay".....to buy basic hygine items. Although, mostly goes towards buying ramen soups to pay off protection/gambling debt.
for cases like his.. I would prefer making him into a eunic and releasing him to a lifetime of parole. Would be cheaper and he certainly would be incapable of hurting anybody anymore.
With the media coverage, he would be forever a marked man.. in or out of prison
My hometown newspaper is widely known for employing the worst sportswriter on Earth. This morning, he opined that Sandusky is the "Jack the Ripper of Football."
Carry on.
I would like to see them bring back stocks as a form of punishment. Not 24/7.. but 8 hours a day for X amount of days as decided by the offense

OK, make him a eunuch and put him in stocks for 12 hours a day until he dies, and I can agree with you.
Your "make him a eunuch and let him go" post above was not thought-through, IMO. Even if he can't hurt anyone any more, he still did what he did, and needs to be punished. There are a lot of sick berkeleyers out there who inchoately know they have a problem, and want to be relieved of their "burden." If they knew that their punishment would simply be chemical castration and release, many of them would trade that for a one-time binge of horribly-damaging child abuse.

I have read that sex offenders who have been relieved of their organ, tend to substitute a blade.
I don't think that is much of an improvement.
