Word, you and me are on the same page almost.

Today is day 48 since I quit. I cheated and had one about a week ago and strangely I've had less urges since then. It just didn't do anything for me.

I'd like to keep this beautiful face, but closed-fist-nut-punch permission granted. Thanks for all the words of encouragement, d00ds!

Two of my best friends, both smokers, died of cancer in their early fifties. According to the surgeon that removed my father's bladder and prostate, lung cancer isn't the only type that can be caused by smoking. After all, the poisons touch every cell in your body. Think that over and it may help you have a great reason to quit. I won't give you the details of how these men died but it was very very ugly.

I smoked for 20 years total. Quit for good in 95. I'm done! I know it's not easy but it's doable.

as my dad slowly died in that hospital room, from kools and vicerorys he had lasped into a coma, but still kept going through the motion of taking one out of his shirt pocket putting it in his mouth and lighting it.........it was a sad thing to witness

don't know how true the "statistics" are (usually you can make them say anything you want) but I once read / heard that less than 50% of the population smoked and well over 50% of the cancer patients smoked... sometimes 1+1 does = 2...

How about I hit you with a preemptive closed-fist-nut-punch, then give you a smoke?

srsly, keep up the good work poop. I'm happy to hear that you're sticking with it, and that you haven't packed on a bunch of weight as a side-effect. what kind of fitness stuff are you doing?

Rock on poop!

My Georgia public education tells me that you have saved yourself almost 1/10 of a challenge car budget.

Or in Honger math, that's almost 20 cases of Natty Light.

The no weight gain alone is worthy of tooting your own horn, seriously, great job. Keep on it.

No weight gain is great! Nicotine speeds up your metabolism so removing it throws everything off. I put on about 30 pounds in the first few months but it slowly came back off- well, about 15 of them did, anyway.

Hang in there, dude!

100%. I've been grabbing some extra work from my former employers. Everyone there used to smoke. There are only a couple smokers there now. I was a little worried that this would be too tempting, but it hasn't been too bad. I'll actually go out with the smokers once a day to get a whiff. I still enjoy the smell.

Nights haven't been as bad. Where I used to have at least one episode a night of cringing and grinding my teeth for several minutes, waiting for the craving to go away, now there are nights when I don't think about it at all.

I certainly don't miss smelling like E36 M3 all the time. Haven't really done anything different to keep the weight off. I was just really conscious in the beginning of not replacing the smokes with food. I'm still a big fatass, just no bigger of a fatass than when I quit.

Thanks for all of the support, dudes. I wasn't trying to make this a big deal, but it's really been incredibly helpful to hear all the kind words and support. I truly appreciate it. Cheap whiskey shots on me.
