It is just the chassis, no electronics, but I can fix that. The temptation is strong. I wanted one of these as a kid and that is borderline beer money.
Surely it is a scam, I can't find anything that look hinky though.

I've already got batteries and chargers.
Do it. Even if its a re-pop, its worth it. If its a re-pop though, buy differentials in bulk. They explode easily. Or try to find a vintage Thorp diff.
Tamiya has been reissuing it's early kits in recent years, it's been discussed here before. The entry level ones are really reasonable. I started off with a Grasshopper buggy back in the day, easily the most fun RC I ever had if also the simplest.
Wasn't the rear diff on the 'box the same as the Hopper and the Hornet? If so, I beat the hell out of it and never blew one up. I ran mid-hot motors though, nothing crazy. With the Hopper you could run it WOT forward and slam it to WOT reverse and it would just spin the car 180* and keep going in the same line you were driving, but backwards. Never even lost speed. I did that hundreds of times and the diff lived. All plastic gears and everything.
I remember guys replacing the diffs after every race. Maybe they were building them wrong, or, I suspect, they were using way too hot of motors.
I'm thinking of making this my son's birthday present. He turns 7 in July and by then I think he'll be able to handle his own truck. By then I can dollar cost average out the cost of the truck and the electronics.
They just fixed the pricing error. Deal is over.
Yeah I was about to buy a pile of them to flip on Ebay.
I bought an original grasshopper 2 for 40 bucks locally. I dissembled and cleaned it, and epoxied a break in the chassis. Had all the electronics, but no radio. I put it on eBay, hoping for 60 bucks to cover my shipping. I really just bought it for the experience of wrenching on a tamiya. Well, the auction ended at 126 bucks! And the buyer was happy.
I have the flysky radio, it's fantastic. I really like it. I use it with my rc10, my electric rc10gt, my tc3 road car, my axial trail honcho, and my slash. Extra receivers are 14 bucks for a pair.
Joey
I use the Flysky as well with my old Kyosho Ultima.

Oh thank God.
Yup, that just saved me $120. I already have two awesome hobby grade RCs, but man, for that cheap I would have gone further down the rabbit hole. I still want a Tamiya monster basher, either an old school 2WD, or one of the new 4WD chassis.
