Before leaving to pick up lunch, I grabbed some change from my desk drawer. While paying, I noticed that one of the coins looked really, really worn. A closer look revealed that it's a 1917 dime. I'd call its condition bordering on poor. Not sure how it got into my desk. Or how long it's been in there.
Pics or it didn't happen!
I remember my 5th grade teacher saying all silver colored coins made before 1964 were actually made of silver and were worth quite a bit. Dunno how true that is.
I'll take a photo tonight.
When I had the NAPA store we had a customer who had "sold" us a couple rolls of quarters, dimes and nickels.
Apparently he knocked off his pops because all of the coins were mint collectibles and once my counterman recognized what they were he prompptly coughed up $40.00 to buy it all.
Check the mint mark on it. If it's a "D," it might be worth a few bucks.
sweet! I have a few myself. tossed in a tin with Wheat Pennies, Buffalo Nickels, Silver & Bicentennial quarters
When cleaning upmy 88 Scirocco last year, I found about $5 in loose change scattered throught the car. Also found were a 1 deutschmark under the spare and 1 pfenning under the passenger seat.
To my knowledge the car has always been in the US.
I found a "NAMCO" arcade token and a barbie bracelet in this year's Challenger.
