YOU'RE WRONG!!!
STEAK IS WHERE IT'S AT.
I usually enjoy reading the political threads. Most of the people on here do a pretty good job of making their point without going off the deep end with name calling and immature statements.

I hesitate to wade in here. But some of the anti-Obama rants posted seemed to have a level of intensity and hatred that defied any logic. For anyone who has seen (or been on the receiving end of) subtle and overt racism, it wouldn't be hard to come to that conclusion. I am not in a position to judge whether it is a driving anyone's emotions here or not. I can only state that racism is still a potent force in the world and not something to be lightly dismissed.
I view and like the political threads but don't often post in them. It's not often I get a liberals point of view that truly believes in what they're saying and can back it up with facts. Most of the time when I debate with a lefty they can't make a coherent sentence without it breaking down to "Fox Lies!" or "Scott Walker is a Koch Whore!".
With the current state of politics here in Wisconsin the newspapers comment boards are horrible. Here, it tends to be more (mostly) insightful and is actually somewhat refreshing.

That may be true, but Ignorant had his own special way of arguing just to win. The worst part was that he is very intelligent and very well studied in most of the topics he argued so when he chose to he could present a fairly fact filled argument to support his cause. He just chose to troll about 80% of the time instead of debate and the Obama one was full troll.

You can dislike/hate/loathe someone without it being related to the color of their skin.
Me? I vehemently disagree with just about all of his policies. And it has nothing to do with his ethnicity.
If the same policies were coming from a white/native american/etc, they would be just as poorly received.
At least that's my humble opinion, YMMV.
Whoa, whoa, whoa, hold da phone here. This wasn't my intent.
Lack of judgement, inexperience knows no color; so if I throw on an inappropriate image this thing gets squashed, right?
I'm going to a VW forum .....

From the wiki:
By the end of the 19th century, legalised duelling was almost extinct in most of the world. Some U.S. states do not have any statute or constitutional provision prohibiting duelling, though the party causing injury in a duel may be prosecuted under the applicable laws relating to bodily harm or manslaughter.
It would simplify some things, though, and politics might be a lot more civil.
They used to beat the heck out of each other on the floor of the Senate, too.

WHY WOULD YOU WASTE YOUR VOTE ON A THIRD PARTY?!?! Strudel has no chance of winning, and we can both agree that we are anti-Cake, so make your vote count by supporting Pie!!!
Pastry, right now I'm avid about Bear Claws, heated... w/ real melted butter
... but tomorrow it might be Cinnamon Rolls

I love this bit from the wiki:
"One of the most bitter critics of the attack was Sumner's fellow New Englander, Congressman Anson Burlingame. When Burlingame denounced Brooks as a coward on the floor of the House, Brooks challenged him to a duel, and Burlingame accepted the challenge. Burlingame, as the challenged party, specified rifles as the weapons, and to get around American anti-dueling laws he named the Navy Yard on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls as the site. Brooks, reportedly dismayed by both Burlingame's unexpectedly enthusiastic acceptance and his reputation as a crack shot, neglected to show up"
