I think my Skydrop is finally bricking on us. I know the company had make some major changes a few years ago, but now I can't even log in.

Anyone have experience with the other controllers? My big asks: iPhone controls and a system smart enough to know what the weather's doing.

Thanks.

I've been using the Orbit B-Hyve for the last two years and I wouldn't recommend it. The app and bluetooth communication are awful. It's fine once I manage to get the watering schedule set and then leave it alone, but any changes I make from my phone doesn't seem to take effect until the next day, if at all, and sometimes require resetting and re-pairing the unit to work.

Depends on how much you want to DIY. At our last place we had an OpenSprinkler Pi that worked really well for us, but it's pretty DIY with assembling it out of a Raspberry Pi and all that.

Following because I might be setting up an irrigation system for a friend's garden this year.  Looking for easy button, which I suspect will be 'dumb', but I want to understand the options.

I like to watch my wife bend over to open the ball valves in the box in the lawn. She is smart though so this fits here.

I'll hook up the box, but I don't want an open-source DIY solution. Skydrop was great until like two days ago. And maybe it's a small issue on their end, but I'm not feeling confident.

I have Rachio. Works well.

I have a Rainbird controller and I don't recommend it.  The remote access is clunky and if it looses the WiFi connection for any reason you have to set it up from scratch.

I have an OSPi that I'm pretty happy with.  Being able to schedule sprinklers with Google Calendar is nice.

Small update: I can now log back into Skydrop. So maybe they were having an issue?

Thanks for the info, though. Fingers crossed that it stays back online.

You'll need to log in to post.
