That just doesn't seem possible.
How long is the runup? The articles I've seen sound like the riders are 30' from the ramp that is 14' high. If those dimensions are accurate they have about 40-45' to accelerate. That means to jump 47' high they accelerate at OVER 1G on DIRT with 1/3 of that acceleration occuring STRAIGHT UP! Amazing stuff.
They count take off and landing spot instead of distance between the ramps. The one in DFW was wide enough the cars used it as a raceway between them.
Is that 47' off the floor or 47' off the lip of the ramp? Regardless, I look forward to someone doing a step up onto the roof of a 4 story building on Nitro Circus some day.
