Does anyone have a front, rear or hopefully both wings from either an A-Mod or B-Mod auto-x car???? They don't need to be the latest and greatest National caliber winning set-up, but let's see what might be out there. Carbon, fiberglass, aluminum, multi-plane, what do you have hanging in the rafters of your garage???? I'm in northeast PA, so unless it's something that can be broken down and shipped, I will have to drive and pick it/them up, so less than a days round trip would be preferred.

Something between this and that would be considered.

OK, so I edited the title and ended up with this redundant mess. frown

Thought about this some - the way I see it ultimately, rolling your own would likely be the best route, theres a few effective ways to do it.

  1. Make your own carbon - get a precut foam core from an outfit such as https://www.eurekaaircraft.com/foam_cutting/foam_cutting.htm and make a mold.  There are good books on airfoil selection, or you can likely get advice from our forum.  You could also do it in fiberglass with some weight penalty.
  2. Make your own  dacron covered. Get an airfoil design, send-cut-send for a rib template (or just all of the ribs depending) and cover with Dacron like loads of lightweight aircraft do.   Minus to this is they may not do well with cone strikes, but then all are susceptable and this would just be recovering most likely.
  3. same as 2, but rivet aluminium over it instead of dacron.

Go do some reading on EAA sites or looking at Aircraft Spruce for avaition resource on doing this.  Our wings are very similar to theirs, but upsidedown without control surfaces. Especially good to look at short take off & landing (STOL) kit plane construction.

(I did some daydreaming about making wings for my Fmod to run Amod, but I would need 100lbs ballast)

Ideally, I should do a whole bunch of research/reading and figure out the best way to build my own wings. I know me and what I have on my plate currently at the shop and home, and I can tell you that building wings isn't going to happen! Not just because of time commitments, but I don't do fiberglass or any type of body/paint work. Never have, never will. For this project, buying someone's version 1.0 after they changed to wing version 2.0 is what I'm after.

I will take a look at the link supplied above but just to satisfy a curiosity.

I understand, I will say though options 2&3 likely wouldnt be too awful to construct.  I think #3 would just take a rivet gun.
