Audi has produced some legendary race cars, and now they’re offering them to “exclusive clientele” through Audi Sport. Its first two cars for sale include an R18 e-tron quattro that won the first race of the RP2 generation in the 2012 FIA World Endurance Championship and the RS 5 DTM that won the 2015 DTM finale Hockenheim.
The drivers behind those two triumphs are equally legendary. The R18 was driven by Romain Dumas (Le Mans, Spa, Nürburgring and Sebring winner), Loïc Duval (Le Mans winner) and Marc Gené (Le Mans winner). Timo Scheider, who drove the RS 5 DTM, is a two-time DTM champion. Now you can add your name to the list of drivers who have wheeled these cars.
Furthermore, once the car is sold, it doesn’t mean the end of support from Audi Sport. They will provide “regular technical inspections, the offer of repairs, but also a spare parts service and expert advice from former developers complete the attractive range of services provided by Audi Sport racing legends.”
“We are rebuilding these chassis together with reconditioned parts from that time into racing cars according to strict standards and with a high level of expertise,” said Rolf Michl, Managing Director of Audi Sport GmbH, in a press release. “In some cases, even the developers from that era are involved in the current projects. The Audi R18 e-tron quattro and the RS 5 DTM are two of the fastest racing cars we have ever built. Customers can look forward not only to extremely sought-after racing cars, but also to a firework display of driving emotions. Our customers become part of a select circle, benefit from our motorsport expertise and receive comprehensive support.”
You can find Audi Sport displaying at three major historic races in Europe: the Jim Clark Revival at Hockenheim (May 9-11), Le Mans Classic (July 3-6) and the Festival of Speed at Goodwood (July 10-13). Audi Sport said its first car will be sold and delivered to its new owner this summer.
