Both the Ferrari 246 GT and GTS furthered the success of the 206 GT with updates such as a larger 2.4-liter V6 and the move to a longer wheelbase. In total, more than 3500 examples of the 246 are said to have been built between 1969-1974.
Despite that, a limited number of early models of the 246—often referred to as “L-Series” cars—carried over a few notable features from the 206 like knock-off hubs and lightweight alloy body panels.
This 1969 Ferrari 246 GT is one such L-Series car, bearing chassis number 00550 and finished in Azzurro blue over an Arancia orange interior.
Said to have been delivered new in Italy in November of 1969, this Dino is believed to have been owned by the same owner for 31 years.
The listing also notes that “prior to current ownership,” the car’s carburetors were rebuilt, new hoses and brakes lines were installed, and all the fluids were changed. The Dino would also reportedly receive “over $17,000” of work from Fast Cars Ltd in Redondo Beach, California, who fixed a number of “mechanical systems and cosmetic items.”
Although true mileage is said to be unknown, the odometer is reported to currently read 8007 kilometers (about 4975 miles).
