The car world may remember the 1970s for the fuel crisis that choked automotive performance, but that didn't stop companies like Ferrari from pushing the envelope.
Such is the case with this 1977 Ferrari 512 Berlinetta Boxer to be offered by RM Sotheby's as part of its European Sale Featuring the Petitjean Collection.
Once owned by professional football (not the American kind) player Günter Netzer, this 512 is said to have had only five total caretakers total and was restored by Ferrari specialists Barhofer Automobile in Singen, Germany.
Its 4.9-liter, flat-12 engine is good for a reported 335 horsepower.
Exterior Nero paint is also said to be original, with the matching interior leather showing "wonderful patina without being worn."
