The 500 Superfast was the top model of Ferrari's America series of cars. Only 36 of these cars are said to have been built, with a select few equipped with a five-speed transmission in place of a four-speed with overdrive.
This 1964 Ferrari 500 Superfast is one of those select few, and is available as part of RM Sotheby's Shift/Monterey Auction.
Finished in Verde Scuro over a Nero Franzi interior, this 500 Superfast is said to have been owned by British Lord James Hanson for 35 years.
Power comes from a 4.9-liter V12 capable of a reported 395 horsepower and a top speed of 174 mph.
This Ferrari is also noted as being featured in Cavallino and Forza magazines, and has been displayed at the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance, Cavallino Classic and the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este.
Included in the sale are various documents that include the original sales invoice, service records and Ferrari Classiche certification.
