This 1968 Ford GT40—chassis number 1076—was one of two entered by factory team JW Automotive Engineering and finished in the iconic Gulf livery.
Entered on behalf of the Cincinnati Concours d'Elegance Foundation, this GT40 was on pace to win, though suffered mechanical issues that dropped it behind a factory-backed Porsche 908. In fact, the team’s other car—chassis number 1075—would end up taking the overall win, followed by the 908 and then this GT40.
Following the race, this GT40 would end up being put on display as the other winning car, before it was changed backed to its original livery sometime in the ‘90s.
Sure, this historic 1968 Ford GT40 got a podium finish at Le Mans, but does that mean it has the chance of getting a podium finish in the Concours d’Cancelation Presented by Hagerty?
