That’s right, the Porsche 917K that Steve McQueen steered in “Le Mans” will go across the block at the January Mecum auction in Kissimmee.
Steve McQueen purchased it new, and after filming for “Le Mans” ended, it competed in world endurance racing, where it won several times.
The 917K will join several other high-profile offerings, including the Essex Wire Cobra — possibly the winningest Cobra of all time — as well as a Le Mans-winning 1976 Porsche 934, a 1983 Porsche 935/84 and a 1966 Lola T90 Ford Indy Car.
