Singer 911 too mainstream? How about something from Theon Design?

Theon Design says it has just one goal: “to create the ultimate air-cooled Porsche 911.”

If its latest bespoke creation–GBR002–is anything to go by, Theon may have hit the mark.

Based on a 1992 Porsche 964 Carrera 2, the one-of-a-kind 911 boasts over 400 horsepower in a package that weighs just 1169 kilograms (approximately 2577 pounds) thanks to extensive use of carbon fiber throughout the body.

A Hewland six-speed manual handles gear changes, with active dampers, bigger brakes and a Wavetrac Torsen limited-slip differential all working to keep that power on the road.

Inside, the driver is kept in place with Recaro CS seats finished in leather and Alcantara and steers the car with a “deep dish” Nardi steering wheel. A modern six-speaker audio system and air conditioning have also been fitted.

Interested in having your very Theon-built Porsche? The price of a commission starts at £380,000, or about $481,454–enough to buy more than one brand-new 911 GT3.

I've driven a very similar car with about 350 HP and it was my favorite Porsche experience so far. Better, in fact than a late-model GT3.
