After finishing the fiberglass portion of our Elva’s passenger seat, we still needed to build an upper seat bracket.
We took a piece of 1/16-inch bar stock and cut it down to 10 inches. We would then weld on two end pieces that we curved as necessary and then drilled for mounts.
The last step was to drill some lightening holes in the bar stock. In addition to lightening the piece, they would help the fiberglass bond to the bar. We then painted the mount with VHT black epoxy paint.
We installed our seat mount by cutting slots through the seat and then glassing in the bracket. We also strengthened the area all around the seat bracket.
Our front seat mount was then glassed in with multiple layers of cloth, resin and mat.

The final step, before covering the seat with fabric, was to sand the whole seat and give it one more coat of resin.
