Before Phil Hill debuted in Formula 1, he had raced this very 1951 Jaguar XK120. Sherwood Johnston–a 24 Hours of Le Mans class winner–and John von Neumann also competed with the vehicle in period.
One of just three lightweight works cars built for potential use at Le Mans, the XK120 was brought stateside by Charles Hornburg, the first U.S. importer of Jaguars.
The Jaguar has been with its most recent owner since 1974, where it was set to be restored but the plan never came to fruition.
Find this 1951 Jaguar XK120 LT3 up for auction from Bonhams.
