You read that correctly, this 1988 Porsche 962 which finished 9th overall at the 1988 Le Mans 24 and driven by Derek Bell in the 2012 Le Mans Classic can be legally driven on U.K. roads.
The work to convert the 962 for road use–noted to have been completed by “a world-class race preparer of prototype and GT cars”–included fitting a handbrake, engine cooling fans, an ECU and a rear-view mirror. Headsets and intercoms were also installed to make driver and passenger communication easier.
In perhaps the greatest road trip ever, the owner drove the Porsche shortly after it was made road-legal from the U.K. to Germany to watch the Nürburgring 24.
