Driven by three-time Formula 1 World Champion Niki Lauda during the 1969 Österreichring 1000-kilometer race, this Porsche 910 boasts quite an impressive driver record: Rudi Lins, Rolf Stommelen, Otto Stuppbacher, Lambert Hofer and Porsche works Hans Hermann, who drove it during the 1968 Italian Hill Climb.
Not only is this the inaugural Porsche 910, but it’s also one of just 12 short-tail versions and one of only six 910s that are registered for road use. That’s right, the Porsche that raced at Österreichring can also be taken for a spin around the neighborhood.
Featuring one of the 14 flat six-cylinder engines produced specifically for the 910, along with a twin-spark ignition, this Porsche remains as original as the day Lauda drove it.
Find this 1966 Porsche 910-001 for auction from Mecum on January 18.
