The Mk1 Porsche 996 GT3 not sold in North America

North America didn’t get the very first version of the Porsche 911 GT3. While we did get the 996-chassis GT3, we only got the later Mk2 model, not the original Mk1 sold elsewhere.

What’s the difference between the two? Aside from lower production numbers, the Mk1 received a different rear wing design and a lightweight single mass flywheel. Additionally, the Mk1 is noted to be the only water-cooled 911 to be assembled at Porsche’s Weissach site.

This particular example shows less than 17,000 miles from new and, according to the seller, looks and drives “like it was just delivered to the dealership.”

Find this 1999 Porsche 911 GT3 Mk1 listed for sale from Merit Partners with an asking price of $159,858.
